Asia Pacific Hotel Beitou Hot Springs.. how to get a good nights rest and leave with perfect skin.. Taipei, Taiwan Part I

We just got back from our latest country of Taiwan!  I’m breaking up this location into two posts because I have that much to gush about this southeast Asian country!  I’ve had my hopes built up about places and had let downs because I held places on such a pedestal.  I was pleasantly surprised how much I really loved Taipei City and how I already can’t wait to return!

{Hot Springs in Taipei, Taiwan..}

I wanted to separate out my posts because I really wanted to highlight the Beitou Hot Springs area while it’s super fresh in my mind.. Only about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic from Taipei City, we opted to take an uber from the Taipei Main Station MRT area (about $15 USD) to Beitou Hot Springs.  If using the MRT, you can take the subway to the Beitou MRT.

I read about how the hot springs were phenomenal for your skin and have benefits such as helping with achy joints, lower anxiety, and even help with sleep quality and appetite.  How do I sign up?!?!  A lot of people do day trips to the springs, but I wanted to go all in and do an overnight in one of the resorts.  This brings us to the Asia Pacific Hotel, Beitou Hot Springs; an aesthetically pleasing hotel right next to the Dan-Feng Mountain.  They offer a complimentary shuttle from the Beitou MRT for those using public transportation.

We pulled up to the black, white, and grey building and I instantly wanted to pull out my camera to start snapping away.. It reminds me of a boutique hotel in LA but with a more calming and “one with nature” kind of vibe.  I was already getting so happy and we hadn’t even stepped foot into the room.  Sometimes simple is more and the backdrop of the mountain made for the best views of mother nature.  After a few snaps on the digital camera, we headed for the lobby to check-in.

The staff were all smiles and spoke great english.  I couldn’t help but dart my eyes around at all the areas that I was going to overtake with poses because the decor was so on point and matched the way I personally decorate.  I felt like I had stepped into such a calming environment which instantly put me in vacation mode.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m a city girl through and through.  Living in Seoul has given me such a “go, go, go” attitude, but I really needed the time to decompress and just R.E.L.A.X.  When planning our getaways, I always try to dedicate one day to a mellow go with the flow day and that’s what Beitou was for me in Taipei.

{Taking a breather.. or two..}

After checking in and learning about all the fun amenities the resort has to offer, I instantly knew my schedule was going to quickly fill up.  From playing with giant floaties at the swimming pool to taking advantage of the many on-site hot springs around the hotel.. there was even word of a magic show with adult beverages..

We made it up to our Deluxe Room and I couldn’t have been happier with the set up.  First things first, we had our OWN hot spring tub in our room.  Ummmm, maybe I won’t be leaving the room because the hot springs have literally been brought to me and I don’t even have to leave to get perfect skin full of minerals.  The rooms are Japanese inspired so you feel like you’ve transformed to Japan with a Taiwan backdrop.. the rundown..

  • King size bed (2 medium beds are optional)
  • Separate tea room
  • Flat screen TV with plenty of english channels
  • View of the lush green mountains
  • Personal hot spring tub (also includes regular hot/cold water for baths)
  • Onsen Japanese style shower
  • Stone cold mountain spring water bowl/sink for post hot spring baths
  • Japanese tea set with teas (which I think I need my own now)
  • Nespresso maker and additional pour over coffee filters
  • Fruit (we had an orange, kiwi, and apple)
  • Local-made cookies (omg delish!)
  • Drinks filled in the refrigerated mini-bar (non-alcohol)
  • Japanese style his/her robes
  • Slippers to wear inside and around the hotel

{Details.. details… details….}

I still can’t get over how many details the hotel provides to the guests.  Almost like staying at your own home and everything is readily available.  Not to mention the luxurious eco-friendly toiletries made in Italy to make those showers so refreshing.  I felt like I was staying in a rainforest but with air condition and wifi.

We refreshed quickly and headed back out to tour the other rooms of the hotel.  They have something for every need and for practically any size family on travel.  Rooms almost the size of apartments with living room areas and traditional Japanese rooms where you can lie on the floor with linens to put down at night and stow away during the day.  Every room was equipped with coffee, tea, fruit, and water bottles.

The hotel knows adults like to pretend to be kids, so they’ve dedicated a whole level to virtual reality games!  I got to play a very real like car racing game then a roller coaster ride.  Let’s just say that about 30 seconds into the rollercoaster ride, Chris and I both had to take off our masks because we legit started to feel sick.  I guess I can’t handle those kids rides any more.. even in fake life.  But I’m sure anyone under the age of 15 would be totally fine.

There’s another separated room for kids who want to get crafty.  We don’t currently have kids, but I’ve never stayed a hotel where the entire modern aesthetics felt comfy and geared toward the mini me’s.  Ideal when traveling with the babes.  During our say they had a slime making DIY.. sadly, we didn’t make it, but good to know for those who watch slime vids on the ‘gram.

They saved the best for last.  A whole room that makes you feel like you’re in a giant fish tank!  Ok, so here’s the deal.  10 year old me was so excited.  You can color a fish onto paper as crazy as you want and they will scan the picture into their virtual reality program and it sends the digital fish into the aquarium!  You can PLAY with your fish inside this fish tank?!?!  UMMM… YASSSS…  We hung out here playing with some virtual fish and all was right in the world.

{If you want to get naked… you have options..}

The naked hot springs, separated by men and women were also down on the ground level.  I didn’t partake in the nekkidness, because I was too busy wanting to jump into the giant pool with Cardi B playing over the stereo system.. The basic biotch coming out got super happy.  There was a room full of floaties already blown up ready to be tossed into the pool.  I opted for the pink and white swans to lounge for a hot minute.

They had a mini happy hour at the pool, complete with their pineapple cakes, M&M’s, chips, and juices; they got me at the peanut M&M’s.  Cabanas lined the outside part of the indoor pool where you could lay a towel down to relax or even throw a floatie inside to get comfy.  Perfect for those concerned with staying out of the sun,  but also for those who want a little Vitamin C!

I couldn’t get over how much this one hotel has to offer.  Since every room doesn’t come with their own personal hot spring, doesn’t mean you couldn’t take advantage of the hot spring hotel.  There’s a private hot spring pool you can soak your tired feet.  Don’t be me and stick your whole body in it.. I didn’t know it was only for the feet till after I got halfway in.  The damage was already done, so I stuck around for a picture.

They actually have three private hot spring rooms you can book for 90 minutes for a fee to enjoy the warm 40º Celsius (104º Fahrenheit) waters.. the rooms are complete with sinks and toilets so you don’t have to leave and lose any of your reserved time.

The tropical feels were real in what felt like a sanctuary; open windows and green plant life to make you feel as if you are one with nature.. swoon..

{Because I always have food on the brain..}

I never stop thinking about food.. I was excited to try the Green Restaurant, which is half buffet, half menu.  We got to choose one main course meal and the rest which had a ton to choose from included a full salad and fruit bar, local chinese food such as noodles, vegetables, chicken, and dumplings.  For my main course I opted for the jumbo prawns and Chris aka @instahusband21 chose the short ribs.  I wanted to try a couple of things and not order the same and be that couple.. I must admit I loved the short ribs and would order that myself.  Delish!

We hung for after dinner cocktails because we are adults on vacation..  Located at the pool lounge, I got the insta-worthy Phoenix Mountain complete with mini gummy bears and Chris got the Berry Manor with a tasty piece of chocolate.  We kept switching back and forth because I liked them both.

We got to watch a magic show (all in Mandarin, but honestly with magic, you don’t even have to understand the language to know what’s going on).. Geared more for kids, but seriously, such a cute show to watch if you have the time.

{paradise in mother nature..}

For a little night cap, we headed back to the room and I wanted to get in a late night hot spring soak before bed to get my circulation on point.  Nothing more relaxing than running a natural hot spring bath in the comforts of your hotel room and following it up with a cool shower before settling in for the night.  Sleep never felt so good!

When I’m on vacation I’m so excited and love waking up super early.  I woke to the light and shadows of the mountains and made myself some morning tea to stare at the greenery that encompasses the hotel.  So peaceful and glad I was able to enjoy time in the tea room so I didn’t have to disturb Chris’ slumber because he could sleep forever on vacation.

Breakfast was a buffet and completes everyone’s dietary needs.  Fruits, yogurt, eggs, bacon, all very westernized with an Asian flare for local guests. The coffee machine is self-serve and I wish I could have taken that machine home with me.  Perfectly piping hot and tasty coffee every single time. I may have had multiple croissants, but someone told me calories don’t count on vacation.

For those who are into spa experiences when traveling, the hotel also caters to pampering.  Just what I needed to get a jump start on my day.  30 minute back massage and a 30 minute head massage.  OMFG. I don’t think I’ve ever had someone brush my locks the way my masseuse took care of my hair follicles before.  Whatever brush and personal touch she used, I need that like every day of my life on the planet.  It was so soothing.. maybe because I don’t brush my hair daily, but that along with the peppermint essential oils used during my massage was key to feeling bougie and making my muscles sing.  Post massage I was given some snacks and tea before checking out.  Legit need that more often.

The Asia Pacific Hotel Beitou leaves no detail unturned.  It’s so inclusive you don’t have to leave the resort because they bring the hot springs to you.. I don’t think I could ever go back to Beitou without making a stop at the hotel.  The staff were beyond accommodating and I felt like I had made new friends.  Service with a warm smile.

If you’re considering going to Taipei, make a point to head north the short trip to give your skin a hug with natural minerals and stay in the Asia Pacific Hotel Beitou Hot Springs.  I promise your expectations will be more than exceeded.  Kick your feet in the hot springs, ride a flamingo, and gaze upon the Dan-Feng Mountains.. Your mind and body will give you major thanks!
