Brunch is a cult and I’m into it..

So I basically live for the avocado.  I devour a decent amount, considering they are currently going for around $3.50/avo, which is kinda crazy when moving from San Diego where Trader Joe’s sells them in packs of four for the same price, is a little disheartening.  But it hasn’t really stopped my consumption of the alligator pear.  I mean, can I live?  This brings me to the basic bitch meal of avocado toast.  If anyone needs an injunction on the fruit, it’s me.  With that said, I’m always on the hunt for breakfast spots in Seoul.  Let me just say that it’s quite the treasure hunt since Yelp is nonexistent, I can’t read/write Hangul, and Koreans don’t really do eggs for breakfast.  Challenge accepted. . .

This has made me resort to finding places out via word of mouth or major Instagram stalking.  Filters make breakfast look like Michelin star chefs prepare a simple omelet, so you have to be careful and do some research on locations through multiple photos.  I might not be able to read what everyone is saying, but if an avocado salmon sandwich looks delicious, I don’t need the words to deduct that kind of conclusion.

This particular brunch outing brought us to Café Little Neck.  Much of Korea is still very old school with adjummas (read: Grandma) behind the counter, busily cleaning veggies or grabbing kimchi for the little side dishes, and while I love Korean food (posts to come soon), sometimes (read: a lot) I need a break from the spice to make my tummy and waist line happy.

Café Little Neck is very chic, very minimalistic, very me.  Ok, so they pass the initial ambiance test, but what does the food taste like?  I opted for the beet cream cheese toast with grapefruit ade for my drink.  My husband, got the omelette top toast (I call it toast, but the menu reads as “sandwich”).. see picture for reference and you’ll get it.

Ok, my official food review in one word.  Scrumptious.  Now I can only speak to what I personally ordered, and it was definitely what I needed.  I normally opt for the avocado salmon sandwich, but on this day, the beets were speaking to me.  All the more reason to go back.  The white cream on top of the toast was a ricotta cheese and it came with a side of honey.  I was 100% pleased with everything on my plate.. my grapefruit ade wasn’t too sweet, so if you like the bitter fruit, go for it.

Don’t go on Monday because they are closed, as many places in Korea.  Now I don’t intend on this blog to be a foodie blog, but when I find a legit place that deserves some recognition and feel the need to pass along the valuable information, I intend to do so.  Brunch is one of my top five things in life that makes me happy.. now, if only they can add champagne by the glass to the menu, we’ll be talking.. maybe even bottomless for a reasonable price.  Just throwing some ideas out there..

That rose gold door??  I mean come on… the details are so good!
