Louis Vuitton has outdone themselves.. Currently in Seoul, Korea at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza also known as DDP, has transformed the art halls into one of the most beautiful exhibitions I’ve ever seen. Volez, Voguez, Voyagez curated by Olivier Saillard, is an epic excursion when Louis Vuitton started the well-known luggage trunks in Paris, France. I’m not sure I could pronounce it properly, but it means “Sail, Fly, Travel”.. I had no idea the original luggages were hand painted with the infamous LV symbols.. Louis was so far ahead of his time that his luggages are still in such high demand.. his creations were so forward thinking that he was basically the first modern luggage maker in the world. The little locks that come with current designs first started in 1890 that allowed the customer to open each piece of luggage with a single key.

Going through each hall watching the pieces come to life and change over the years, not only the trunks, but into fashion pieces from clothing to handbags and everything in between. If I could get a hold of the library book trunk, my life would be complete! My eyes were as wide open as they possibly could be, reading all the details, putting my face close to the leather to see the intricate details of the leather and paint come together with such beauty..
Volez, Voguez, Voyagez is in Seoul from June 8 – August 27 2017 and only in its third year. The original started in Paris, second year in Tokyo, Japan, and now Seoul, Korea. I feel beyond lucky to be living in Seoul at the same time this classic display is being shown to the public. My eyes found blueprints from original designs and they were incredible. The exhibition is on loan from the Palais Galliera, musee de la Mode de la Ville de Paris and private collectors.

Following the theme of “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez”, each section was transformed from a showcase of various trunks, to what felt like being shipwrecked in the desert, hanging in the garden with your Louis Vuitton picnic baskets, train ride with all of your LV suitcases in tow, aboard an airplane headed to the sun, to a journey through current designs in collaboration with artist Jeff Koons known for his pop culture subjects. They somehow got a huge airplane into the facility and it created for major instagrammable moments among the crowd. Guilty! I had to partake in it as well as you may have guessed.
It’s intense to think the luxury brand started in 1854 and see pieces dated from the early 1900’s still in tact and would sell out in today’s markets. Louis Vuitton and his team had real vision and paid such close attention to details that has outlasted the test of time. I’m not sure how long it took to put together the exhibit, but the coordination, exact placement of bags, all curated to educate those interested in the brand was impeccable. It took a little over an hour to get through the entire showcase, and that included several pictures along the way.

To say it was all amazing is the understatement of the year. The exhibit ended with a French lady hand painting the leather luggage tags with the famous burgundy-red edges.. I could have listened to her speak all day…

If it’s like other sought after exhibits by other fashion seekers, Instagram babes, and girl boss bloggers, I suggest you book a time as soon as possible before it closes out. If you have a kakao account (big in Korea), you get a free code to download some pretty fabulous emoji’s inspired by Louis Vuitton.. I’ve been using them nonstop myself.. even when an emoji is unnecessary.. they’re that freaking cute. A bookstore filled with perfect coffee table books also greets you at the end.. I made a purchase for the “Rome City Guide” because I have plans of a European excursion in August and Rome is on the itinerary.. And if you’re like me, needing to stalk the LV website for a new bag is now obligatory.. well done Louis.. you’ve done your job.. Au Revoir!!
