Seoul Fashion Week SS18 – High fashion bathrobes, little kids with more swag than the general population, and Kpop band Big Bang..

This has been such a delayed post, but so necessary.  I recently attended Seoul Fashion Week SS18 sponsored by Hera Cosmetics and basically the main competition was all the kiddies that came with their camera toting parentals.  I’m really not surprised that these minis had more style than about 90% of the attendees of the week long event.

{let me tell you how I really feel}

I’m going to be brutally honest and say that a lot of the people that show up to be seen really went to the depths of their wardrobe, possibly from Halloween’s past and pulled out items from their closet they knew would get photographers in a frenzy.  *Caveat – not everyone in attendance dressed like they were putting on a show for Halloween 2018, I saw some extremely well thought out style edits that had me taking notes.  BUT when you wear a bathrobe with a designer name on it (doesn’t mean you appreciate fashion – it was just the most obnoxious thing you could find in your closet that was clean).  I’m NOT the all knowing fashion guru, but I also know that some personal pieces should never leave the bathroom.. because… it’s a robe.. meant for post shower warmth and to keep you dry.. but who am I to judge? It’s what makes Seoul Fashion Week… the fashion event of the East.  I just mentally run Zoolander quotes throughout my head the entire time and wonder if they are ambi-turners.. (insert crying/laughing emoji here).  Here’s a few snaps of the chaos that goes on at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza which always makes for amazing shots.  If you want more details about the location and architecture, check out my post from last season here.

Ok, I will say that the people watching alone is enough reason to go and show your own style expression as well as check out the designers who put on quite the show with such detail it brings the biggest smile to my face.  Putting on a show is no joke, from figuring out which outfits to dress the models, makeup/hair selection, and even the music can change the whole mood of the audience.

{greedilous fashion giving me all the feels}

My favorite show this season was Greedilous.  My first time seeing the designer’s showcase and it was a mix of deconstructed ruffle pieces, a play on bright hip hop, and all black with a soundtrack that had me downloading the songs to my running playlist.

For my personal outfit selections, since Paris Fashion Week was a no go for me, I was hugely inspired to be a little French girl and based my entire outfit off a beret.  I had no clue what I wanted to wear, all I knew, was I wanted to wear a black beret and my recent Zara combat boot purchase because I’m all about the pearl trend rn..

Since I went super girly with the French girl look, I wanted a stark contrast and brought out a Fall preppy goth look.  For this outfit build, I took a memo from the blogger look, armed with my plaid blazer.  Since most blazers don’t fit my body type without getting altered, I chose to belt the jacket on top of my lace dress number complete with (faux) snakeskin booties and give a little cold shoulder to show off the detail of the dress’ choker neckline.  Paired up with my vintage Louis Vuitton gave it just enough chic factor.

{outfit selection number 3 – newsies vibes}

Wanting to stay true to what I would wear for a fashionable appearance to a party, I took the Fall beige color and paired it up with a pattern favorite.. polka dots.  I’d been hoarding my thigh high black boots all summer and finally got to pull them out for their first Fall coming out.  My fashion focus was my baker boy cap and somehow it worked with my skirt I was dead set on wearing.  I got to meet a fellow blogger girl crush, Arielle aka @casualncouture on IG, coming in from Canada for SFW.  If you asked instahusband, he would tell you we looked like bus drivers.. smh.

Fashion Week is full of after parties and ways to get in trouble on a Tuesday evening.  Metrocity always puts on a good time and featured a Big Bang member (if you’re into Kpop, it’s kind of a big deal and I know this because my little sister freaked out when I told her about it – she’s 13 btw).  And somehow Kpop is making its way to America.. anyone see the AMA’s and watch BTS’s performance.. hit me up on your thoughts.. was it in line with Jared Leto’s reaction or the screaming girls?  Let’s talk..
